| Tokyo Steel Ups Local Scrap Purchase Prices At Four Works |

Japan's top electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has increased what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by 1,500-3,000/ton at its Okayama, Kyushu, Takamatsu, and Utsunomiya works, effective with March 1 arrivals. What Tokyo Steel has done marks changes in its purchase prices for the first time in one month since February 1 and increased purchase prices for the first time since Oct 9 last year. At the Okayama and Takamatsu works, the purchase prices are up Y2,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals of pressed turnings, steel turnings, and machine shop turnings, while they are up Y3,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals of other grades. At the Kyushu works, the purchase prices are up Y1,500/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals of pressed turnings, steel turnings, and machine shop turnings, while they are up Y2,500/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals of other grades. At the Utsunomiya works, the purchase prices are up Y3,000/ton across the board. As a result, the new purchase prices of No2 HMS are Y25,500/ton delivered Okayama works, Y23,000/ton delivered Kyushu works, Y23,000/ton delivered Takamatsu works, each for arrivals by land and sea, and Y23,000/ton delivered Utsunomiya works for overland arrivals. |
