According to the results of iron ore exports in January to April 2005 surveyed by Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), a total of 23,223 thousand metric tons (Kt) was exported from Dampier in the period, up 1,269 Kt (5.8%) from 21,954 Kt (final) in the previous year.
By destinations, shipments to China only, at 12,978 Kt, increased by 24.5% from the same period last year, with all others declining as: Japan 5,873 Kt (down 0.6%), South Korea 2,087 Kt (down 28.5%), Taiwan 1,225 Kt (down 2.1%), the UK 269 Kt (down 34.6%), France 572 Kt (down 9.2%).
