South Korea's Iron Ore Imports In Jan-Apr/05
= 15.1 million tons imported with a 2.6% drop
Iron ore imports into South Korea in January to April 2005 have turned out to be 15,100 thousand metric tons (Kt), a decrease of 405 Kt or 2.6% from 15,505 Kt in the previous corresponding period.
Major sources and tonnages were: Australia 9,427 Kt (slightly down by 0.6%), Brazil 4,209 Kt (up 0.3%), India 779 Kt (down 27.1%), Chile 324 Kt (up 14.9 %), and South Africa 204 Kt (up 4.6%).
Pig iron and crude steel production in the period of January to May was 10,920 Kt (down 3.8%) and 19,819 Kt (up 0.6%), respectively.
