China's Iron Ore Imports From Australia Go Over 100 Mt Annual Pace
= Imports from India and Brazil go at annual pace of 76.7 Mt and 53.5 Mt, each
According to the results of iron ore imports into China in January to April 2005, a total of 87.492 million tons (Mt) was imported, up 19.202 Mt or nearly 30% (28.1%) from 68.291 Mt in the previous corresponding period. The 4-month total represented an annual rate of 260 Mt, which was shared predominantly by Australia with 130.66 Mt, India 76.697 Mt and Brazil 53.49 Mt. With all of these three countries increasing tonnages in terms of annual pace, Australia in particular has become a single exporter of the order of 100 Mt/a, a historical record.
