Erdos Manganese Alloys Starts Its Production From Spring Next Year
= Manganese Ore As Raw Material Will Based On Australian Ore From BHP Billiton
Erdos Manganese Alloys located in Qipan area of Inner Mongolia Aut. Region is scheduled to start their production of silico-manganese from April - May of 2006 and has planned to use mainly manganese ore to be imported as raw material when its operation is commenced. Also, this producer has a program to use gradually low and medium grade manganese ore mined at local mines of China in accordance with that the plant has become skillful in operation.

Erdos Manganese Alloys Co., Ltd. was established as a joint venture with capital ratio of 51% by Erdos Group of Inner Mongolia, 24.5% by JFE Steel of Japan and 24.5% by Mitsui & Co., and has planned to produce 150,000 tons per annum of silico-manganese by four 25,500 KVA electric furnaces to be newly constructed.

This project is scheduled to complete two independent thermoelectric power generation stations ( with 33 MKWH per station ), consisting of one station to complete in September of 2005 and another station to complete in December of 2005, and two electric furnaces are expected to operate from spring ( April - May ) of 2006, when these power stations will be commissioned.

As regards manganese ore as raw material in question to be secured and used, Erdos Manganese Alloys has planned to use mainly high grade manganese ore to be imported, when the operation is started, and aimed to elevate a skill of how to operate electric furnaces in order. Therefore, this producer is scheduled to import high grade manganese ore from BHP Billiton of Australia for trial usage, which is expected to allow a smooth start-up of operating electric furnaces.

Originally, in order to produce silico-manganese, low and medium grade manganese ore is used as raw material but it is supposed that Erdos Manganese Alloys will use low and medium grade manganese ore to be purchased from local mines of China and also such neighboring countries as Kazakhstan and son, after high grade manganese ore has been used for trial purpose as mentioned above.
