Japanese integrated steelmakers find themselves in prolonged negotiations on their exports of non-GO (grain oriented) electrical sheets to Asian destinations for shipments in the January-March quarter of 2006. As a result, they have yet to work out deals with local customers.
For the main bottleneck, various users are determined to negotiate for immediate requirements alone because they can get much lower prices than Japanese offers in supplies by local wholesalers out of stock. It is understood that wholesalers in nations such as have considerable amounts in stock of non-GO electrical sheets.
Nevertheless, the Japanese steelmakers may have concluded part of their export negotiations this time on deals to provide non-GO electrical sheets of high quality despite a certain price concession since specified demand exists, market sources suggest. |
