| Members To Struggle For Favorable Results In 3 Years Running: Fudenko Chairman |
|
Member electric steelmakers with the Japan Non-Integrated Steel Producers Association (Fudenko) are contemplating struggling for favorable results in fiscal 2006 (April 2006-March 2007) for three consecutive years, Chairman Kenji Inokuma (concurrently Godo Steel Ltd President) told the get-together meeting held Jan 13 for the new year. Fudenko is a major organization of electric steelmakers in Japan. The following are an outline of what Inokuma said at the get-together meeting. <>This year is an important year for Japan's mini mill circles because they will get public recognition as a stable industry if Fudenko members have achieved favorable results in fiscal 2006 for three consecutive years. <>Fears remain about an adverse effect from imported steel products on domestic products such as rebars, given China's production volume. <>Japan's construction investments total Y52 trillion in a normal year. But they are expected to come down to around Y50 trillion in total this year. <>Japan's mini mill circles represent a mature industry, not a growth industry. But their operations will get enhanced importance to play a part in social infrastructure. As a result, they need to replace obsolete facilities with new ones, take adequate environmental and safety measures, execute compliance, and comply with corporate social responsibility toward their status as an industry of noble character. |
