According to the customs-statistics released in China, the imports of chrome ore into China in November of 2005 were as per the table shown below. Namely, China imported 347,300 tons of chrome ore in November of 2005, which had a sudden and considerable increase of 89.8% compared with that ( 182,912 tons ) in the previous month - October and also increased substantially by 64.9% compared to that ( 210,509 tons ) in the same month of 2004. A pace to import chrome ore into China on a scale of 347,000 tons per month is the second largest one in its history, following that ( 355,000 tons ) recorded in June of 2005, and exceeded a level of 300,000 tons per month after an interval of 4 months. This sudden and considerable increase of chrome ore imported into China in November of 2005 is supposed to be the rushed imports prior to an abolishment of Red Book system. The unit price of chrome ore averaged for imports in November was US$168.79 per ton as a fall of 7.0% from that in October. The quantities of chrome ore imported from main sources into China in November of 2005 were <> from India : 97,422 tons ( increased by 66.3% from that in October ), <> from South Africa : 69,035 tons ( increased by 2.9 times from that in October ), <> from Turkey : 68,513 tons ( increased by 6.3 times from that in October ), <> from Australia : 15,370 tons ( increased by 40.9% from that in October ) and <> from Iran : 17,480 tons ( decreased by 52.2% from that in October ).
