China's crude steel production totaled 36,135,000 tons in February 2007, up 20.1% from a year ago, when its pig iron production totaled 34,035,000 tons, up 18.6% from a year ago, according to announced data from the China Iron & Steel Association.
China's manufacture of steel products totaled 38,568,000 tons in February 2007, up 22.3% from a year ago.
Of the Chinese steel products manufactured in February 2007, wide HR coils accounted for 4,228,000 tons, up 25.5% from a year ago (up 4.3% from a month ago); narrow HR coils 2,933,000 tons, up 22.3% (up 3.9%); coated sheets (galvanized sheets, tinplate and tinfree steel) 1,414,000 tons, up 18.1%; and heavy plates 1,206,000 tons, up 1.7%. Meanwhile, large shapes made up 749,000 tons, down 2.7% from a month ago; bars 3,095,000 tons, down 3.5%; wire rods 5,765,000 tons, down 7.2%; electrical sheets 295,000 tons, down 8.1%; and painted sheets 171,000 tons, down 17.4%. |
