Brazilian MMX Mineração e Metálicos S.A. (gMMXh) announced that on April 20 Federal Court Justice of the 3rd Circuit Cecilia Marcondes, gave a ruling in support of MMX's appeal against the injunction awarded by the Federal Judge sitting in Corumbá that had suspended construction work at the MMX's pig iron plant in Corumbá.
Immediately after learning the ruling in favor, MMX restarted construction work of the plant, all in conformity with the planned schedule and the environmental permits already granted.
The Corumbá project aims at construction of a 400,000-t/y pig iron plant and a 500,000 t/y semi-finished products facility. Agreement has already been reached with US Cargill Inc. to supply an agreed volume of pig iron produced from the plant. |
