Japan's Local Scrap Prices Average Y35,252 In Three Main Areas
Japan's domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged Y35,252/ton delivered steelworks for No2 HMS in the Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai areas in the fourth week of August 2007, the same as the week before, according to a survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association. As a result, the average price was unchanged for two consecutive weeks.

In the fourth week of August 2007, the monitor prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions moved sideways from a week ago at Y35,183/ton in Kanto, Y34,340/ton in Chubu, and Y36,233/ton in Kansai. The monitor price indicates the average of benchmark prices.

In the week under review, No2 HMS prices across the nation averaged Y35,887/ton delivered steelworks, up Y143 from a week ago.
