India's ferrous scrap imports totaled 3,014,000 tons in calendar 2007, down 345,000 tons or 10.3% from a year ago, when they decreased by as much as 1,894,000 tons or 38.6% from what turned out in calendar 2005, according to Indian customs statistics made available in Tokyo.
In the breakdown by main sources, the USA supplied the largest quantity of 621,000 tons or 20.6% of the total, up 27.2% from a year ago; the UAE the second largest of 523,000 tons or 17.4%, down 13.0%; the UK the third largest of 199,000 tons or 6.6%, down 57.3%; and Kuwait the fourth largest of 185,000 tons or 6.2%, down 6.4%.
As a result, the top four sources together accounted for 50.8% of the total. |
