Tokyo Steel Cuts Scrap Purchase Prices By Y2,000-3,000 At Four Works
Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has reduced what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by Y2,000-3,000/ton at its four works, effective with August 28 purchases.

A price reduction of Y3,000/ton applies to all grades of seaborne arrivals at the Okayama and Kyushu works, and all grades of seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works. Another price reduction of Y2,000/ton applies to all grades of overland arrivals at the Kyushu and Utsunomiya works. At the Okayama works, intakes of overland arrivals are on hold until an August 29 midnight.

As a result, the new delivered prices of No2 HMS are Y47,000/ton for seaborne arrivals at the Okayama and Kyushu works; Y48,000/ton for overland arrivals at the Kyushu works; Y46,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works; and Y44,000/ton for overland arrivals at the Utsunomiya works.
