Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has increased what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by Y2,000-3,000/ton at its four works, effective with Sept 11 purchases, which indicates the company's purchase price increase for local ferrous scrap for the first time in nearly two months.
A price increase of Y3,000/ton applies to all grades of seaborne and overland arrivals at the Okayama and Kyushu works in the west of the nation, and all grades of overland arrivals at the Utsunomiya works in the Kanto area. Another price increase of Y2,000/ton applies to all grades of seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works in the west of the nation.
As a result, the new delivered prices of No2 HMS are Y45,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Okayama work; Y45,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Kyushu works; Y43,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works; and Y43,000/ton for overland arrivals at the Utsunomiya works. |
