According to China's Customs Statistics for foreign trade in ferrous raw materials and steel products for August 2008 announced by the country's Customs General Administration, steel products exports made an upturn at 7.68 million tons (Mt), increasing 42.8% from 5.38 Mt in the same month last year. Derived January to August exports, however, dropped 7.2% from the previous corresponding period to 41.84 Mt.
Iron ore imports continued to vigorously progress at 37.4 Mt in August, and 306.97 Mt for January to August. The eight-month imports represent an annualized rate of 460 Mt. |
