Tokyo Steel's Sept Crude Steel Output Totals 304,000 Tons
Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co put out a total of 304,000 tons of crude steel from the company's four works in September 2008, topping 300,000 tons for two consecutive months. In the breakdown by works, Okayama accounted for 158,000 tons, Kyushu 71,000 tons, Takamatsu 13,000 tons, and Utsunomiya 61,000 tons.

Also, the company produced a total of 141,000 tons of H-beams from its three works in September 2008. In the breakdown by works, Okayama accounted for 36,000 tons, Kyushu 48,000 tons, and Utsunomiya 57,000 tons.

For the month under review, crude steel production volumes of the nation's other major electric steelmakers were: Aichi Steel Corp/84,000 tons (from the Chita works); Asahi Industries Co/36,000 tons (from the Saitama works); Osaka Steel Co/112,000 tons (18,000 tons from the Okajima works, 64,000 tons from the Sakai works, and 30,000 tons from the West Japan works); Kyoei Steel Ltd/159,000 tons (52,000 tons from the Nagoya works, 24,000 tons from the Osaka works, 30,000 tons from the Hirakata works, and 53,000 tons from the Yamaguchi works); Godo Steel Ltd/130,000 tons (55,000 tons from the Funabashi works, 45,000 tons from the Osaka works, and 30,000 tons from the Himeji works); Sanyo Special Steel Co/107,000 tons (from the Himeji works); JFE Bars & Shapes Corp/123,000 tons (14,000 tons from the Sendai works, 57,000 tons from the Kashima works, and 53,000 tons from the Himeji works); Daiwa Steel Corp/74,000 tons (22,000 tons from the Misato works and 51,000 tons from the Mizushima works); Nakayama Steel Works Ltd/76,000 tons (from the Osaka works); and Yamato Steel Co/59,000 tons (from the Himeji works).
