Tokyo Steel Cuts Scrap Purchase Prices By Y1,000 At Utsunomiya Works
Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co reduced what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by a uniform Y1,000/ton for all grades at its Utsunomiya works, effective with Oct 24 purchases. As a result, the new delivered price of No2 HMS is Y16,500/ton for overland arrivals.

The company's purchase prices of local ferrous scrap are unchanged this time at its Okayama, Kyushu, and Takamatsu works. The delivered prices of No2 HMS are Y18,500/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Okayama works; Y18,500/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Kyushu works; and Y17,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works.
