| Tokyo Steel Cuts Scrap Purchase Prices By Y1,000-2,000 At Four Works |

Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has reduced what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by Y1,000-2,000/ton at its four works, effective with Nov 5 purchases. At the Okayama and Kyushu works, a price reduction of Y2,000/ton applies to main grades, while another price reduction of Y1,000/ton applies to inferior material, pressed turnings, steel turnings and machine shop turnings. At the Takamatsu works, a price reduction of Y2,000/ton applies to main grades, while another price reduction of Y1,000/ton applies to inferior material. The purchase prices are unchanged for pressed turnings, steel turnings and machine shop turnings. At the Utsunomiya works, a price reduction of Y2,000/ton applies to main grades, while another price reductio of Y1,000/ton applies to inferior material, pressed turnings and steel turnings. As a result, the new delivered prices of No2 HMS are Y12,500/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Okayama works; Y12,500/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Kyushu works; Y11,500/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works; and Y11,000/ton for overland arrivals at the Utsunomiya works. |
