Japan's domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged Y10,518/ton delivered steelworks for No2 HMS in the Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai areas in the first week of November 2008, down Y3,558 from a week ago, according to a survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association. As a result, the average price declined for five consecutive weeks, with a cumulative fall of Y30,811.
In the first week of November 2008, the monitor prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were Y9,833/ton in Kanto, down Y4,167 from a week ago; Y10,320/ton in Chubu, down Y2,840; and Y11,400/ton in Kansai, down Y3,667. The monitor price indicates the average of benchmark prices. |
