Japan's nationwide production of small bars totaled 838,800 tons in October 2008, down 20.2% from a year ago, when it fell by 4.8% from a month ago, according to the Japan Iron & Steel Federation. As a result, nationwide production of small bars decreased from the level of a year ago for 14 consecutive months.
In January-October 2008, Japanese small bar production totaled 9,281,000 tons, down 8.3% from the same period of 2007, amounting to an annualized level of 11,130,000 tons. The production volume totaled 6,613,400 tons in April-October 2008, down 8.2% from the corresponding period of 2007. |
