| Korean HDG Sheet Offer To Mideast At $730 C&F Level |

A steel reroller of South Korea has offered exports of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) sheets to the Middle East at a price level of US$730/ton C&F for shipments to Saudi Arabia, it was learned in Tokyo Wednesday. By comparison, offer prices of HDG sheet exports there by South Korea's integrated steelmaker Posco are seen as a level of US$730/ton C&F. A Korean price level of US$700/ton C&F amounts to what can compete effectively with price terms of HDG sheet shipments from local steel mills in Saudi Arabia, according to market sources. Saudi asking prices are estimated at a level of US$650/ton. Meanwhile, HDG sheet exports are on offer to Southeast Asia from China and South Korea at a price level of US$850/ton C&F. Still, it is understood that the offers are limited to specified regular outlets such as coil centers. The price level of US$850/ton C&F on offer to Southeast Asia compares with what predominated in January this year before an upswing in HDG sheet prices. |
