Chiba took the top place in the breakdown by customs ports of Japan's ferrous scrap exports in January-October 2008 that totaled nearly 4,702,000 tons, down 14.9% from the same period of 2007, according to announced trade statistics from the Ministry of Finance.
Chiba accounted for the largest volume of 469,000 tons or 10.0% of the total, down 20.1% from the same period of 2007. Tokyo ranked second at 390,000 tons or 8.3%, down 34.3%; Nagoya third at 321,000 tons or 6.8%, down 10.5%; Kinuura fourth at 306,000 tons or 6.5%, down 18.6%; Kawasaki fifth at 290,000 tons or 6.2%, down 31.9%; and Shiogama sixth at 235,000 tons or 5.0%, up 56.2%. |
