Japan's domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged Y15,715/ton delivered steelworks for No2 HMS in the Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai areas in the first week of December 2008, up Y2,388 from a week ago, according to a survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association. As a result, the average price went up for three consecutive weeks.
In the first week of December 2008, the monitor prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were Y18,833/ton in Kanto, up Y5,000 from a week ago; Y12,580/ton in Chubu, up Y1,000; and Y15,733/ton in Kansai, up Y1,166. The monitor price indicates the average of benchmark prices. |
