Japan's domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged Y15,499/ton delivered steelworks for No2 HMS in the Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai areas in the third week of December 2008, down Y861 from a week ago, according to a survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association. As a result, the average price declined for the first time in five weeks since the second week of November 2008.
In the third week of December 2008, the monitor prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were Y16,583/ton in Kanto, down Y1,917 from a week ago; a flat Y14,180/ton in Chubu; and Y15,733/ton in Kansai, down Y667. |
