Japan's domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged Y19,066/ton delivered steelworks for No2 HMS in the Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai areas in the second week of February 2009, down Y111 from a week ago, according to a survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association. As a result, the average price declined for the first time in one and a half months since the fourth week of December 2008.
In the second week of February 2009, the monitor prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were Y20,917/ton in Kanto, down Y333 from a week ago; a flat Y17,380/ton in Chubu; and a flat Y18,900/ton in Kansai. The monitor price indicates the average of benchmark prices. |
