Ferrous scrap exports out of the UK totaled 6,103,000 tons in January-November 2008, up 13.2% from the same period of 2007, amounting to an annualized level of 6,660,000 tons, according to UK customs statistics made available in Tokyo.
In the breakdown by main destinations, Spain accounted for the largest quantity of 1,384,000 tons or 23.0% of the total, down 5.3% from the same period of 2007; and Turkey the second largest of 1,063,000 tons or 17.7%, down 20.0%.
India ranked third at 635,000 tons, up 180.9%; Egypt fourth at 503,000 tons, up 80.7%; Portugal fifth at 490,000 tons, up 9.7%; and France sixth at 425,000 tons, down 7.7%. |
