The USA's ferrous scrap exports totaled 2,936,000 tons in January-February 2009, up 2.2% from the same period of 2008, according to US customs statistics made available in Tokyo.
In the breakdown by main destinations, China accounted for the largest quantity of 807,000 tons or 27.5% of the total, up 147.9% from the same period of last year.
As to other destinations in Asia, South Korea took 446,000 tons, up by a factor of 2; India 239,000 tons, up by a factor of 2.3; and Taiwan 180,000 tons, down 63.8%. |
