According to Statistics Canada, iron ore exports from this country in March 2009 totaled 1.975 million tons (Mt), an increase of 0.386 Mt or 24.3% from the previous month. As a result, January to March exports totaled 4.890 Mt, which was a reduction of 1.102 Mt or 18.45 from the same period last year.
In terms of destination during the first three months, exports to China surged to 1.844 Mt, which was 3.2 times the previous comparable results. Exports to some European countries also significantly increased. Other exports markets in Europe and Asia saw sharp decline. |
