| Baosteel Ups Domestic Prices For Wire Rods, Heavy Plates |
|
China's Baosteel Co Ltd applies price increases to wire rods and heavy plates in its notice to domestic customers on the company's price terms of various steel products for August shipment, it was learned in Tokyo Thursday. Baosteel is said to have applied flat prices to slabs and tubular products this time. The price increases are Yn300/ton (US$44) for wire rods, Yn200/ton (US$29) for commodity-grade heavy plates, Yn300/ton (US$44) for boiler plates, and Yn150/ton (US$22) for ship plates. It is understood that Baosteel has opted to price up heavy plates in reaction to separate price increases of heavy plates by Wuhan Iron & Steel Group Corp and Anshan Iron & Steel Group Corp. For July shipments, Wuhan's and Anshan's price increases are Yn230/ton (US$34) and Yn100/ton (US$15), respectively. Meanwhile, Chinese steelmakers are thought to have offered a price increase of US$50/ton to US$500/ton C&F in their deals of heavy plate exports to South Korea for July-September shipments, according to market sources. It is uncertain so far whether the Chinese steelmakers have firmed up what they export. |
