Baosteel's Domestic Sheet Price Hikes For August Shipments
China's Baosteel Co Ltd has told domestic customers that the company intends to execute major price increases of sheet products for August shipments, it was learned in Tokyo Monday.

The price increases by the ton are Yn500 (US$74) for low-grade HR coils, Yn350 (US$51) for commodity-grade HR coils, Yn300 (US$44) for other grades of HR coils, Yn400 (US$59) for pickled HR coils, Yn500 for CR coils, Yn500 for electrolytic galvanized (EG) sheets, and Yn500 for hot-dip galvanized (HDG) sheets.

As a result, it follows that Baosteel's cumulative price increases for July-August shipments are Yn1,000 (US$147) for HR coils and HDG sheets, Yn900 (US$132) for CR coils, and Yn850 (US$125) for EG sheets.

Meanwhile, Baosteel is thought to have made no price revision of tinplate for August shipments. For July shipments, a tinplate price reduction of Yn450 (US$66) is in effect.

In China, Wuhan Iron & Steel Group Corp has already informed domestic customers of major price increases of sheet products for August shipments. The price increases by the ton are Yn240 (US$34) for HR coils, Yn480 (US$70) for CR coils, and Yn510 (US$75) for HDG sheets.
