| Tokyo Steel Ups Scrap Purchase Prices At Three West Japan Works |

Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has increased what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by Y500-1,000/ton at its three works in the west of the nation, effective with July 14 purchases. At the Okayama and Takamatsu works, a price increase of Y1,000/ton applies to seaborne and overland arrivals of all grades. At the Kyushu works, a price increase of Y500/ton applies to overland arrivals of all grades. As a result, the new delivered prices of No2 HMS are Y28,000/ton for seaborne arrivals and Y27,500/ton for overland arrivals at the Okayama works; Y27,000/ton for overland arrivals at the Kyushu works; and Y27,000/ton for seaborne and overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works. The purchase prices of local ferrous scrap are unchanged for seaborne arrivals at the Kyushu works. Also, they are unchanged for overland arrivals at the company's Utsunomiya works in the Kanto area. The delivered price of No2 HMS is Y27,000/ton each for overland arrivals at the Kyushu and Utsunomiya works. |
