Turkish Import Deal For European HMS At $270 C&F
Turkey's electric steelmaker Habas recently settled an import deal to take 30,000 tons of ferrous scrap from Dutch metal recycler EuroScrap Alliance BV at around US$270/MT C&F for a grade of 70% No1 HMS/30% No2 HMS, it was learned in Tokyo late last week.

In a separate case of procurement, a Turkish buyer is reported to have secured the A3 grade of Russian ferrous scrap at around US$268/MT C&F. Besides, there are signs of negotiations under way on ferrous scrap shipments out of the US East Coast to Turkey at high prices beyond a range of US$268-270/MT C&F.

Under the existing circumstances, there are prospects of a continued advance in prices as far as new Turkish imports of ferrous scrap are concerned, many of market sources believe.

In Turkey, meanwhile, domestic transaction prices of round bars continue firm. The going prices translate into a level of US$435/MT ex steelworks.
