According to the foreign trade statistics compiled by Brazilian Secretariat of Foreign Trade ("Secex"), iron ore exports from this country in July 2009 were 25.439 million tons (Mt) and January to July exports totaled 142.767 Mt. This seven month exports represented a reduction of 24.976 Mt or 14.9% from the previous comparable total of 167.743 Mt. By destination, exports to China at 80.378 Mt accounted for a 56.3% share in the total. Switzerland and Japan followed with 18.128 Mt (share: 12.7%) and 11.708 Mt (8.2%), respectively. |
