| First Raw Material Carrier Arrives At Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Works |

Ahead of the scheduled operation start-up in January next year of No. 1 blast furnace being constructed at Dangjin Works of South Korean Hyundai Steel, the first vessel carrying raw material for the furnace has arrived at the port facility of Dangjin Works and a commemorative ceremony was held on September 2 at the site. The ceremony to celebrate the memorable arrival of the "ANANGEL HAPPINESS" that carried 170,000 tons of iron ore from Brazilian Vale was attended by Chung Mong-koo, Chairman and CEO of Hyundai Steel's parent company - Hyundai Motor Company; José Carlos Martins, Executive Director, Ferrous, on behalf of Vale; and many other people concerned. The No. 1 blast furnace under construction at Dangjin Works will have an inner volume of 5,250 m3 with an annual pig iron output capacity of 4.0 million tons. Dangjin Works has three dedicative wharves to receive raw material for the furnace, with the capacity of 50,000 tons, 100,000 tons and 200,000 tons each. Discharges of ferrous raw materials will successively take place from now on. The Company has longterm iron ore purchasing arrangements entered into with Australian, Brazilian and South African suppliers to provide for the scheduled blowing in of the furnace in January. In 2011 No. 2 blast furnace is scheduled to come into operation at the same Dangjin Works. |
