Tata Steel Completes Capacity Enhancement Of Jamshedpur C Furnace
India's largest private steel company Tata Steel has completed the capacity enhancement for C Blast Furnace installed at the Company's Jamshedpur steelwork, and conducted its blow-in, Tata Steel announced on September 22. The Company has six blast furnaces, from A to F. The capacity of C Furnace has been increased from 0.4 million tons per annum (Mt/a) to 0.7 Mt/a of pig iron this time.

Tata Steel is carrying forward the project to increase crude steel production capacity of the Jamshedpur steelworks to 10 Mt/a by the end of 2010.

Tata Steel, as a group, has a crude steel production capacity of over 28 Mt/a including 20 Mt/a of Anglo-Dutch steel company, Corus.
