| China's August Finished Steel Output |

Of China's manufacture of finished steel products in August 2009, production volumes marked all-time highs for flat products, welded pipes and bars, according to a survey by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation. The findings of the survey follow. <>Of the flat products manufactured, HR coils with medium thicknesses accounted for 7,910,000 tons, up 22.6% from a year ago; HR coils in thin sizes 2,950,000 tons, up 39.3%; narrow HR coils 4,200,000 tons, up 100.2%; wide CR coils 2,000,000 tons, up 5.8%; CR sheets 1,470,000 tons, up 19.0%; coated products 1,920,000 tons, up 28.0%; prepainted sheets 460,000 tons, up 10.3%; electrical sheets 430,000 tons, up 10.4%; and heavy/medium plates 4,930,000 tons, down 5.7%. <>Of the long products manufactured, bars accounted for 5,060,000 tons, up 36.2% from a year ago; rebars 10,920,000 tons, up 43.7%; large shapes 750,000 tons, down 6.9%; and small/midsize shapes 3,430,000 tons, up 60.3%. <>Of the tubular products manufactured, seamless pipes accounted for 1,830,000 tons, down 3.1% from a year ago; and welded pipes 2,830,000 tons, up 34.8%. |
