China's Shanghai-based steel company Meishan Iron and Steel Co Ltd ("Meigang") officially commenced construction of its No. 5 blast furnace a few days ago. Baosteel Group announced April 14.
Meigang No. 5 blast furnace represents a key construction work constituting the Meigang Phase II Expansion Project. Reflecting engineering requirements, No. 5 blast furnace has an effective inner volume of 4,070 m3, a designed pig iron productivity of 2.2 tons/m3, and a designed annual pig iron production capacity of 3.27 million tons.
The new furnace will adopt updated equipment and technologies, such as bell-less type material feeder at the crown. At the same time, it will incorporate energy-saving and emission cutting measures, such as coal drying process and dust elimination, TRT power generation, steam-driven blower, etc. |
