Sam Walsh, Rio Tinto chief executive, Iron Ore and Australia said, "These latest two contracts are another step towards the successful implementation of our goal to achieve 333Mtpa capacity in the Pilbara in 2015."
The Hope Downs 4 mine site is situated approximately 200km east of Tom Price, and is developed by a 50:50 unincorporated joint venture between Rio Tinto and Hope Downs Iron Ore. The project is expected to have an annual production capacity of 15 million tonnes.
