| Yemen LNG Starts Maintenance Of LNG Plants A Week Earlier |
| =On account of the sabotage of gas pipeline on 15th |
|
Yemen LNG Company Ltd. (YLNG), which is operating LNG production project in Yemen, accelerated its scheduled to conduct maintenance of the liquefaction plant by a week. This is because the gas pipeline was damaged by the sabotage in early morning of October 15th. YLNG started the maintenance work including the restoration of damaged parts on 16th. The sabotage attack to the gas pipeline broke out with explosives at 75 kilo meters to the north of the liquefaction plant in Balhaf in the early morning of October 15th. The 38 inch gas pipeline to transport feedstcok gas was destroyed, that links the block 18 to the Balhaf Terminal on the Gulf of Aden. The plant was not damaged and no one was injured. The block valves every 30 kilo meters of the pipeline were closed shortly. Accordingly, LNG production was halted. Although YLNG originally planned to begin maintenance on October 23rd, which is scheduled to be conducted once a year, it decided to accelerate the schedule for the maintenance in order to repair the pipeline and normalize its production system as early as possible. On the other hand, on 16th after 24 hours after the sabotage of the gas pipeline, a cargo was shipped by LNG carrier "Seri Balhaf" to India. Taking into consideration the fact that the production was originally to be stopped for maintenance, YLNG showed its prospect that its LNG production by sabotage this time will not be so seriously affected. |
