India's Petronet Sells 118 Tbtu Of RLNG During July-September
=Its sales during July-Sept. up 18.5% and those in 1st half of FY 2011/12 up 23% from a year ago
According to India's Petronet LNG Limited, the company sold 117.85 Tbtu, or about 2,234,000 MT of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) in the second quarter of fiscal year 2011/12 (July-September 2011) with an increase of 18.5% from the corresponding period of the previous year.

As a result, its sales of RLNG in the first half of FY2011/12 (April-September 2011) reached 232.5 Tbtu, or about 4,418,000 MT, up 23.1% from the same period of the preceding year.

These LNG cargoes were received at Daheji LNG Import Terminal in Gujarat state, which is run by Petronet. The company has purchased 7.5 million tons per year of LNG from Qatar's RasGas on term contract basis, besides which it has also covered the shortage of LNG by procurement on spot basis.

Incidentally, Petronet purchased 125 cargoes of LNG amounting to 413.4 Tbtu, or about 7.98 million MT in FY 2010/11. During the period the company procured 9 cargoes on spot basis.

Daheji terminal has capacity to receive 10 million tpy of LNG. On top of that, Petronet officially decided to expand the capacity to 15 million tpy at its board meeting in July 2011.

Meanwhile, the expansion work for the second berth available for Qatar's large-sized LNG carrier Q-FLEX and Q-MAX is scheduled to be completed around September 2013.
