Details of Japan's nickel production during the third quarter (July - September) of 2011 are as per the tables attached hereto. The tables show that production (of nickel content) during the period was, <> nickel metal: 10,549 tons, <> ferronickel: 17,764 tons. Compared to the records of production during the same period of 2010, nickel metal production was up by 0.5% and ferronickel production was down by 0.4%.
Ferronickel production during this quarter recovered almost the same level as recorded in the same quarter of 2010, after the 2-month shutdown at Hachinohe refinery of Pacific Metal caused by the Earthquake of March 11.
Production of the single month of September 2011 was, <> nickel metal 3,616 tons (3,544 tons in September 2010), <> ferronickel: 6,200 tons (5,591 tons in September 2010). |
