|Japan Hot-Rolled SUS Production 248,790 tons; October 2011|
|= Slightly down by 1.2% from September; larger down in Ni-alloyed than the up in Cr-alloyed =|
According to the data released by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on December 14, output of hot-rolled stainless steel during October 2011 was as per the table attached hereto.|
The table shows total production in October was 248,790 tons, slightly down by 1.2% from September.
Breakdown by alloy category was as follows, <> Cr-alloyed stainless steel: 126,247 tons (Cr-alloyed: 105,615 tons and Cr/Mo-alloyed: 20,632 tons), up by 5.0% from September <> Ni-alloyed stainless steel: 122,543 tons (Cr/Mn-alloyed: 5,064 tons, Ni-Cr alloyed: 96,043 tons, Ni/Cr/Mo-alloyed: 21,436 tons), down by 6.8% from September, <> other special steel: 6,506 tons, down 26.0% from September). Contrary to September, Cr-alloyed stainless steel increased while Ni-alloyed stainless steel was decreased. The Cr-alloyed and Cr/Mn alloyed were up, otherwise, especially Ni-Cr alloyed, down.
End-October inventory of stainless steel at the mills was 127,351 tons, up by 2.6% from September. Inventory of other special steel was 2,488 tons, down by 53.7% from September. Inventory of Cr-alloyed stainless steel increased from the increased production. Of the Ni-alloyed stainless steel, inventory of Cr/Mn alloyed increased despite the month's lower output.
