|China's Steel Market In 2nd Week Of March|
|= Prices of medium plates rose in the various areas|
The Chinese steel market in the 2nd week of March remained less vigorous but prices of medium steel plates began to rise in each area. According to information about the steel market of each area released on 12th by the China Iron and Steel Association, those rose by 50 CNY ($8) in Beijing to 4,320 CNY ($685) (tax inclusive, hereinafter the same), by 30 CNY ($5) in Shanghai, and they were left unchanged in Guangzhou but rose by 50 CNY in Tianjin. In Beijing, they rose by 210 CNY ($33) from late February.|
On the contrary, prices of hot-rolled steel coils were in a patchy appearance. They rose by 20 CNY ($3) to 4,420 CNY ($700) in Beijing, and by 50 CNY in Tianjin while they dropped by 70 CNY ($11) in Guangzhou, and were left unchanged in Shanghai.
Prices of cold-rolled steel sheets also showed a patchy appearance. They dropped by 30 CNY in Tianjin while they rose in reversal by 50 CNY in Guangzhou, and also by 10 CNY in Shanghai. They were left unchanged in Beijing to 5,280 CNY ($837).
The major blast furnace mills are foreseen to announce this week their domestic prices for April shipment. Each mill is seen to increase their prices following those for March shipment which is believed to push up the steel market. The market will rise little by little.
