Japan's Scrap Prices Average Y30,207 In Three Main Trading Areas
Japan's domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged Y30,207/ton delivered at steelworks for No2 HMS in the Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai areas in the second week of March 2012, down Y466 from a week ago, according to a monitor survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association. As a result, the average price declined for the first in one and a half months since the fifth week of January 2012.

In the second week of March 2012, the monitor prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were Y32,333/ton in Kanto, down Y500 from a week ago; Y29,720/ton in Chubu, down Y900; and Y28,567/ton in Kansai, no change. The monitor price indicates the average of benchmark prices.
