India Alters Cr Ore Export Duty
= To 30% of the ore value from the current rate of Rupee3,000/ton, a big rise based on the prevailing price =
The Indian government announced on March 16 that it altered the export duty of chrome ore to 30% of the ore value from Rupee3,000 per ton of the ore. There was no change with regard to the restriction of exportable quantity.

Under the current market where the price of the Indian chrome ores is more than US$300/ton ex-mine, the change this time means a raise of the duty by more or less 60% - a big rise for the importers.

The government also announced that the import duties for nickel ore and for nickel oxides would be removed.
