The Indian government announced on March 16 that it altered the export duty of chrome ore to 30% of the ore value from Rupee3,000 per ton of the ore. There was no change with regard to the restriction of exportable quantity.|
Under the current market where the price of the Indian chrome ores is more than US$300/ton ex-mine, the change this time means a raise of the duty by more or less 60% - a big rise for the importers.
The government also announced that the import duties for nickel ore and for nickel oxides would be removed.
