Nippon Steel Decided To Make Relining Of No.4 Blast Furnace Of Yawata Works
Nippon Steel announced on 26th that the company has decided to make relining of No.4 blast furnace of Yawata Works during the 4th quarter of fiscal 2013. After relining, its capacity is expanded from the present 4,250 cubic meters to 5,000 cubic meters. Its investment is about 34 billion yen, and construction is carried out by Nippon Steel Engineering and so on.

In conjunction with relining, the specifications of equipment and facilities are to pursue efficiency of the investment scale and minimal costs of operation, and to seek securement of international competitiveness from the view point of raw material costs.

Meantime, No.4 blast furnace of Yawata Works started its operation in February, 1998.
