According to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Australia exported 38.735 million tonnes of iron ore in total in February 2012. Export value totaled approximately A$4.6 billion and export unit price per tonne was A$119 (fob). Export rate by commodity was as follows: Lump 23.5%, Fines 75.9% and Pellets 0.6%.
This resulted in Jan - Feb cumulative exports at 72.068 million tonnes, an increase of 14.282 million tonnes (24.7%) from 57.786 million tonnes of the same period the previous year. Export rate by commodity for Jan - Feb 2012 was as follows: Lump 2.6% (Jan - Feb 2011: 25.5%), Fines 75.6% (Jan - Feb 2011: 74.2%) and Pellets 0.9% (Jan - Feb 2011: 0.3%).
Australia exported to eight countries in Jan - Feb such as China at 51.69 million tonnes (share: 72%), Japan at 10.77 million tonnes (share: 15%), South Korea at 7.57 million tonnes (share: 11%), and Taiwan at 1.82 million tonnes (share: 3%). Please see below for the details. |
