South African ChCr Q3 Benchmark For Japan Also Cut US10/lb
= To US¢133/lb Cr based on decline of demand from summer curtailment =
The benchmark for South African charge chrome shipped to Japan during the Q3 (July - September) of 2012 was agreed to cut US¢10/lb Cr, down 7%, to US¢133/lb Cr.

In Europe, the Q3 benchmark was agreed already last week mainly due to the forecasted drop in demand for the ferrochrome during summer curtailment. The agreement in Japan was based on the same seasonal background, but also on a hope that stainless steel production would increase in the Q4 (October - December) of 2012, which curbed the mills' desire to obtain price cut of more than US¢10/lb Cr this time.
