MMX Temporarily Suspends Iron Ore Production at Corumbá
MMX Mineração e Metálicos S.A. (MMX), Brazil's iron ore mining company, announced on Jul 4 that the company is temporarily suspending iron ore production at the Corumbá Unit for a period of six months, beginning July 2013.

The Corumbá System develops Corumbá Mine, located in Mato Grosso do Sul State, southwestern Brazil, and produces charcoal pig iron. Regarding this measure, MMX clarifies that it has inventories to meet all executed commercial contracts. Additionally, during the mentioned stoppage, the logistic activities and other services necessary for general maintenance of the Unit will remain operational. As a result of this movement, it was necessary the adjustment of the number of work positions. Moreover, MMX will structure training programs to be carried out by its employees until the regular rhythm of operations resumes at the Unit.
