|Production of Stainless Steel Products in December 2013 Is 252,829 Tons|
|=Up by 10% from prior month, and production of Ni-type returns to level before Lehman Crisis=|
On February 17, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the production volume of stainless steel products (hot-rolled products) in December 2013 was 252,829 tons, which represented an increase of 9.9% versus the prior month and an increase of 17.4% versus the year-earlier month. |
The breakdown was <> Chrome-type: 133,434 tons (Cr-type: 108,494 tons, Cr-Mo-type: 24,940 tons), up by 24.8% from the prior month and <> Nickel-type: 119,395 tons (Cr-Mn-type: 3,181 tons, Ni-Cr-type: 93,416 tons and Ni-Cr-Mo-type: 22,798 tons), down by 3.1% ditto. Albeit the production of Ni-type decreased, Cr-type returned to the high level of being since August 2008 and before Lehman Crisis. For a reference, only production volume of Ni-Cr-Mo-type among Nickel-type was up from the prior month.
Meanwhile, the production volume of other special steels was 9,822 tons, which was down by 7.2% from the prior month partly due to rebound from production increase in November.
The stainless steel mill's inventory as of end December was <> Stainless steel products: 119,544 tons (up by 5.2% from the prior month) and <> Other special steels: 4,431 tons (up by 7.3% ditto). The details are as per the table below.
